The current operating system on the IBM Enterprise 2000 mainframe is being upgraded to OS/390 2.6 which is Y2K compliant. Why do you care? If you need to communicate with the UND administrative mainframe your TN3270 software needs to be upgraded to HostExplorer TN3270 6.1.1.3 which is also Y2K compliant. If you do need to communicate with the mainframe but do not have this software on your machine please contact your technical support person to have it installed.

TN3270 is a terminal emulation application that allows you to access and interact with IBM host machines, run 3270 applications, and transfer files between the host machine and your PC using the IND$FILE file transfer application. You may also continue to use WS_FTP for file transfer.

Note: TN3270 only supports the TCP/IP transport.

If you have a version earlier then 6.1.1.3 and having problems you may need to download the patch found at ftp.hummingbird.com/ and go to pub/bbs/hostex/he611-3i.exe in binary dated 7/27/99.

System Requirements for PC:

Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0

Installation of HostExplorer requires that you install and setup the TCP Network Protocol included with Windows NT/95/98, assign an IP address to the workstation, and confirm that the workstation can ping and be pinged by other workstations on the network.

Minimum of 27 MB of free hard disk space
