Downloading Windows Applications from the Web


Freeware and Shareware software is available from the Web. These instructions will provide the basic steps for downloading such software.
 

Using your browser, locate the file you want to download.

The following instructions are for how to download WS_FTP from the NDUS archive site at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/csg/software/win32/index.html.
 
 
Windows 95 Applications
Click the link to start downloading.
Click on the link to start the download process.

 
 
 
Choose the location to save your files and click Save. The file will begin to download to your computer. You will see a message about saving the file. 

1. Choose the location in which you would like to save your file.
2. Make note of the name of the file.
3. Continue downloading by clicking Save.

A Saving Location box will display the download status. A dialog box indicating the status of the download will display. Once the file has been downloaded, you can open the directory in which you saved it and run the "setup file". This will install the application onto your computer.

Troubleshooting:
What if my file is zipped?  You can download Win Zip from http://www.winzip.com.
