The financial information to be provided on the FAFSA
depends on the student's "dependency" status. If the student is considered
a dependent student under the U.S. Department of Education's definition, the student will
be required to submit both their and their parents' income information.
If the student is considered an independent student, the
student will be required to submit their (and their spouse's, if married at the time the
FAFSA was signed) income information.
The student may be required to document their independent
status by providing copies of a DD214 (for veterans), marriage certificate and/or any
other documents required by the Student Financial Aid Office. The student will be
notified if documentation is required.
