Veteran Services > Chapter 30 Benefits

Eligibility

Must have completed 2 or 4 year contract (or more) with any branch of the military services (If you are not sure if you qualify, please come see us or call the Veteran Services Office).

To Apply

To apply for Chapter 30 benefits, the Veteran needs to fill out an Application for VA Educational Benefits, 22-1990. This form can be picked up at the Veteran Services Office, a link is provided on the left of this page under 'forms',  or can be downloaded from http://www.gibill.va.gov/. Also needed is a copy of the Veteran’s DD-214 discharge papers, Kicker paperwork (if applicable), and a copy of the student’s schedule.

Benefits

Chapter 30 students are eligible for benefits for 36 school months based on number of credits enrolled in school.  First, figure out your training status (full-time, three-quarter, half-time, less than half-time) by looking at the number of hours you are enrolled in on the chart below.  Then look at the Educational Assistance Allowance charts and the amount your are entitled based on your training status.

Full-time 12 + credit hours
Three-quarter 9 - 11 credit hours
Half-time 6 - 8 credit hours
Less than half-time 1 - 5 credit hours
