Student Financial Aid > CO-OP Students

Your financial aid eligibility will be reviewed after you register for a co-op course.  If your awards change, an email notification will be sent to your U-Mail account.  If your enrollment changes, it is your responsibility to notify the Student Financial Aid Office.

If you are enrolled in an official UND Cooperative Education Program you are eligible for financial aid consideration equivalent to a full-time student as defined by UND policy.

Exceptions to this policy:

Eligibility for the Pell Grant is related to actual credit hours of enrollment, award amounts are prorated based on actual credit hour enrollment.

The National Merit Scholarship, North Dakota State Grant, Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), and the National SMART Grant require a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester.

Reminders:

If you receive assistance from a source outside the University (BIA, Tribal Grants, Vocational Rehabilitation, National Guard, Veterans Benefits, etc.) you should contact the appropriate agency regarding their award and enrollment policies.

The Student Financial Aid Office does not consider CO-OP earnings as a financial resource during the academic year in which you are enrolled in the CO-OP program. However, your earnings will be viewed as income for the following academic year when filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students should meet with a Financial Aid Advisor to discuss financial aid eligibility and the impact of co-op earnings on future periods of enrollment and financial aid eligibility.

If you are borrowing a loan for the first time at UND, you are required to complete Entrance Loan Counseling prior to the disbursement of funds.

If this will be your last term of enrollment at UND, you are required to complete Exit Loan Counseling prior to the end of the semester.

Remember to keep your address current with the University! Addresses are updated on CampusConnection.

Tuition and fee payment will be automatically deferred up to the amount of your anticipated financial aid.  It is your responsibility to pay any amount of tuition and fees not covered by financial aid by the payment due date

Keep in mind that registration in a CO-OP course could result in a reduction in your anticipated aid and that you will still be responsible for payment of the difference by the due date to avoid a late payment penalty.

Financial aid and other refunds will be available through the UND Pride Card.  Make sure you have activated this card and made your refund selection.

For more information on tuition and fee payment or the UND Pride Card, contact Student Account Services at:  777-3911 or 1-800-CALL UND, ext. 73911 or by email at: studentaccounts@mail.und.nodak.edu.
