HOW DO I HIRE A SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER?
Upon receiving a request for a sign language interpreter, it becomes your responsibility to make
your services/program accessible to a deaf/hard of hearing person.
- After the consumer has made his/her request for services, the responsibility
will be yours to hire and arrange to pay for the services of the interpreter. The consumer is not involved
in the business aspect of making your program/services accessible.
- In the process of securing the interpreter be prepared to discuss:
- Fee schedule.
- Brief description of situation to be interpreted.
- Length of time services are required.

This list represents interpreters who have successfully completed a screening process with a professional interpreter evaluator and are engaged in ongoing professional development. The screening process includes an evaluation of technical skills, and knowledge base, i.e. Deaf culture, language, ethics and evidence of ongoing professional development. This screening process is a quality assurance process, not a certification process.
