College Student Inventory (CSI) View sample
The College Student Inventory (CSI) is a self-assessment tool used as part of the Noel-Levitz Retention Management System that asks students to reflect on academic, personal, and social experiences and perspectives. There are one hundred questions in this inventory that provide analyzed results about academic motivation, sociability, and receptivity to institutional help. The 1,884 incoming students that participated in the 2002 summer orientation were informed that completing the CSI was voluntary, and 1,722 (873 male and 849 female) completed the CSI survey. The university used the program to create a model for identifying students who were most likely to be at risk, and also implemented training programs for preparing academic advisors with specific intervention strategies. This CSI information helps students reflect on how to maximize their college experience, helps academic advisors identify students with particular concerns, and gives the Enrollment Management Team a snapshot of our first year students as a group. CSI was conducted again in 2003 (1,998 participants), 2004 (1,687 participants), 2005 (1,481 participants), and 2006 (1536 participants).

Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI) View sample
The University of North Dakota and Board of Higher Education are coordinating a Student Satisfaction Inventory developed by Noel-Levitz for all levels of students at 11 state universities and colleges. This survey collects information about the experiences of our students. The Student Satisfaction Inventory measures students' satisfaction with a wide range of college experience. Students rate each item in the inventory by the importance of the specific expectation as well as their satisfaction with how well that expectation is being met. A performance gap is then determined by the difference in the importance rating and the satisfaction rating. At the University of North Dakota, 11,415 students received the Student Satisfaction Inventory by mail in October 2002. An overall net response rate of 9 percent was attained. A new web-based SSI survey has been conducted in spring 2004. The net response rate has reached 30%. Among 73 statement items, 65 items showed significantly higher satisfaction than the national norms. A web-based survey was conducted in spring 2006.
