UND Fliers Bag 15th National Championship
With Record-breaking Score

The UND Flying Team bagged the national championship this year with a record score in an invitation-only gathering of the country’s top student aviators. UND nailed down its 15th top win in 25 competitions at the 2009 National Intercollegiate Flying Association SAFECON---the Superbowl of college aviation---in St. Louis. UND Flying Team co-captain Ryan Guthridge won the National Top Pilot Award.

"This was one of those magical teams that seldom comes along," said Jim Higgins, UND Aerospace associate professor and the team’s lead coach.
